Founded in 2014 by Marc Beale and Boris Seckovic, Amakuna Travel was created from a shared commitment to showcasing Colombia as a world-class travel destination, shaped by first-hand experience rather than perception. Built on years of living and working in the country, and deep relationships developed on the ground, Amakuna has grown into a multi-award-winning Colombia travel specialist, recognised for its thoughtful, highly personalised approach to travel planning and execution.

Marc Beale
CO-FOUNDER
A British national, Marc was educated at the London School of Economics before attending the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and serving as an officer in the British Army. After leaving the army, he first travelled extensively through Colombia in 2004, arriving in Cartagena and exploring the country in depth, where he also met his future wife.
On returning to the UK, Marc worked as a fund manager for BlackRock in London. Maintaining close ties to Colombia through frequent visits, he relocated permanently to Medellín in 2011.
He continued his career in the financial markets across Latin America while helping his wife establish a successful educational travel company in Colombia. He co-founded Amakuna driven by a long-standing commitment to seeing Colombia recognised and experienced as a world-class travel destination.
Boris Seckovic
CO-FOUNDER
A dual British-Croatian national, Boris was educated in London. After working in brand management for the BBC, he became a management consultant at Accenture before completing his MBA at IESE Business School in Barcelona.
He first travelled to Colombia in 2006, returning regularly while continuing his career in real estate investment management in London.
Boris later managed a prestigious family office in Croatia before relocating to Medellín in 2014 with his Colombian wife and daughter. Deeply engaged with the country’s culture and an accomplished accordion player of traditional Vallenato music, he co-founded Amakuna with a clear vision of sharing an authentic, informed understanding of Colombia through travel.
